Budgeting and Staying on budget can be challenging. After the first month of being engaged derive a plan for saving money for your wedding on a monthly basis. If the pair of you can put aside 15% – 20% that would be ideal but any amount helps.
As you begin the budget process pay attention to following items:
- Hidden costs: tips, service fees, floral trials are not always free, and vendor gratuities
- Plan to go over budget: set aside 5% for the unforeseen costs such as additional flowers for a missed area, hair and makeup trial, wedding gown alterations, potential weather-related items for instance umbrellas, or fans
A Few Tips to help you Save:
- Determine your absolute MUST-HAVES and allocate extra money for them
- Decrease your guest list
- Avoid expensive details and printing costs that no one will really notice
- Substitute expensive flowers for less expensive flowers that will allow you to maintain the overall look you wish to achieve
- Simplify your menu
- Consider using a smaller wedding cake that provides the look you are going for and serve guests from sheet cakes stored in the kitchen in the same flavor as the wedding cake
While having, a budget defined is important and absolutely required in the wedding planning process. It’s crucial that you and your fiancé end up somewhere with people that are meaningful to you that witness the committing of yourselves to each other and starting your marriage.
